FAQ

How long have you been teaching?

I began teaching both on my own and under my first Karate Instructor when I was 14 years old. I started actively teaching around 1980. During this time I have actively been researching and implementing various teaching and coaching methodologies into my classes and private instruction.(Please see my profile for more information)

If accepted into the private training what should I expect?

If you are accepted into the training group or into private instruction you will be exposed to many aspects of martial arts as well as physical and mental training disciplines. Training involves physical conditioning, mental preparations, as well as the physical martial arts techniques. During your training you will be exposed to not only the technical aspects but how to improve and implement these aspects into your training at multiple levels.

What do I need to start training?

Well I would say the first thing is to have the proper attitude toward training. After that all the basic requirements for training are enclosed in this packet.

Do I have to sign a contract for training?

No, you will have to pay for a one year membership, but this includes your registration to the On Line School (Member’s Website) which is packed with additional resources for you to enhance your training.

How long is my membership valid?

Your membership is valid for one year from time of purchase. (It is also renewable online)

Can I be a Member and not take classes?

Yes. There are many students worldwide who enjoy the information on the Member’s Site, but do not take regular classes or seminars with me.

Can I try out a “Free class” or just stop by to “Watch a class”?

No. The fee for a trial class is $25.0, the same for any individual taking a single session.

Do I need anything special for training?

A few items to start your training is all you really require. Those would include, gi, shorts, wrestling shoes, protective cup, sticks, training blades etc. All of these items can be purchased through our store, or with the Instructor’s approval thru other vendors.

What will be taught in the various classes?

That will depend on the exact class you are in but here is a list of items you will be exposed to:

Grappling, empty hand striking and kicking, traditional Japanese weapons(Sword, spear, staff, chain etc), Filipino martial arts weapons(Machete, stick, dagger etc), projectiles, flexible weapons, improvised or “hidden” weapons, visualization and awareness enhancement skills, first aid and medical management, goal setting, physical conditioning principles and practices, athletic performance enhancement, nutrition, whip tactics, firearms safety and usage, as well as a range of other topics as well.

What are the average class sizes?

An average class is ~8-10 students. The small size ensures maximum personal contact and instruction. Private and semi private instruction is also available.

How long is each class?

Classes are 1 1/2hours in length.

Is sparring included in the training?

Yes. Sparring is taught at several levels and in many varieties throughout the various classes. You will engage in unarmed as well as armed sparring and force on force scenario drills on a frequent basis.
